What You Should Know About the Versatile System
At DG Supplies, Inc., we take our responsibility to the hazardous materials industry, and to our customers, very seriously. Which is why we go to great lengths to ensure that each component of our V-Pack® system is purchased with complete confidence.

All of our 4GV packaging is rigorously tested to meet the strictest of UN specifications to certify that every container we sell thoroughly meets or surpasses current UN requirements for its specific use.

Mechanical tests for compliance verification include measurements for:

  1. Drop Damage
  2. Stacking Strength
  3. Vibration Tolerance
  4. Water Absorbency
  5. Hydraulic Pressure Differential (for liquid containers)
Tests are conducted on behalf of DG Supplies, Inc., by a third- party, independent, DOT- approved certification agency. Test results are available upon request. Each UN-Certified package is then imprinted with required certification markings indicating its use and all tests conducted.

UN 4G V-Pack® Systems Offer Compliance Versatility
The "V" in "V-Pack" stands for "variation". This signifies that the inner container shipped within the system can vary in both material composition and configuration.

The "V" can also stand for "versatility". This flexible system simplifies packing and shipping. Under specified conditions, articles or inner packaging of any type (for solids or liquids) may be shipped in V-Packaging without additional compliance testing. For example, V-Packaging is equally ideal for both batteries and aerosols.

Additionally, the "V" can indicate compatibility for use with vermiculite. This inert absorbent and cushioning material meets full requirements for use in V-Package systems and is suitable for use with most hazardous chemical fluids.

Note: For all inner packages containing liquids, an amount of vermiculite sufficient to absorb the entire liquid content of the inner package is required.

Choosing the Right for Your Needs
When determining the correct V-Pack size, every shipper must know:
  • The UN number of the substance/item being shipped
  • The amount of the substance/item being shipped
  • The physical dimensions and weight of the inner packaging in which the substance/item will be shipped
While the shipper is responsible for selecting the correct package, we can recommend choices according to your supplied information as prescribed by the appropriate regulations. Please refer to DOT Title 49 CFR, ICAO/IATA and IMDG Code regulations to determine authorization for use.
Required Package Certification Markings:
  1. Notification of shipper's responbility to ensure packaging is used in accordance with applicable shipping regulations.
  2. Orientation arrows indicating package top or upright shipping position
  3. UN package specification.
